Abstract

Farmer's Share in Shoranur, Kerala, is an arts and crafts learning space and an eco-conscious community which is creating and facilitating dignified rural livelihoods based on Gandhiji's idea of Gram Swaraj. They envision a village economy where small-scale production and distribution of goods and resources happen within the locality, based on the locality's needs. The focus is on livelihoods that revolve around the fundamental human needs of food, clothing and shelter, showcasing the plural possibilities of a rural economy that sustains and supports itself.
