Comparative study of selected physical fitness variables speed & strength of hockey players according to their playing position

The purpose of the study is to investigate the physical variables between players of different playing positions. (i.e. Defenders, Midfielders and Attackers). The study was conducted on 30 Hockey players of Jaipur District. The physical fitness variables i.e. Speed and strength are measured by different tests. The age of the subjects ranged from 18 to 25 years. The data were collected on the selected subjects by administrating 50 mtr Dash for speed and standing board jump for strength. The Mean, SD and F-test were used to get statistical analysis of data and level of significance was set at 0.05 levels. The results of the study revealed that there was no significant difference between the speed of Defenders, Midfielders and Attackers of Jaipur Hockey Players. On the other hand variable strength for both between groups and within groups; which is greater than the Tabulated. It infers that there is significance difference between the strength of Defenders, Midfielders and Attackers of Jaipur Hockey players.
