Abstract

The main objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of Preksha Meditation (PM) on frustration of sportspersons. Sample A, sample of 80 athletes was drawn from among national level sportspersons and was divided into two groups of 40 subjects each. One served as experimental group, while the other as control group. A multi-group, multi-level, pre-and-post experimental design was adopted. Frustration Scale (R.F.S.) of Dixit and Srivastava (1997) was used. The reaction to frustration scale was administered of the subjects of both the groups prior to assigning their respective treatments. The subjects of experimental group practiced the PM technique for one hour per day regularly for four months, while the subjects of control group were not assigned any special task. They were allowed to continue their daily activities. The reaction to frustration scale was re- administered on the subjects of both the groups, at the end of two months and four months of their respective treatments. The result of the study indicated that the subjects of experimental group did not differ significantly at pre-experimental stage from those of control group. This means, the mode of frustration in the all subjects was homogeneous at this stage.
